With nearly eight weeks since Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor took the top step at Sebring International Raceway, the Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team is eager to kick off round three of the 2024 IMPC championship at the infamous, Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Thanks to skillful driving and great work in the pits, the experienced Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team currently sits at the top of the Michelin Pilot Challenge TCR leaderboard, carrying a 100 point lead as they head to Salinas, California for the only west coast event of the season.
STARTING THE YEAR STRONG
Last year, things really started coming together for the team at Laguna Seca, having spent the earlier stages of the season getting comfortable with the then-new Audi TCR GEN2 race car. This year, Chris Miller and Mikey Taylor have shown great confidence in the Ingolstadt derived machine, taking top honors in both the grueling 4-hour race at Daytona Speedway and the bumpy circuit of Sebring Raceway which is no easy task considering its famously demanding track surface.
DRIVERS WEIGH IN
“I’m really looking forward to getting back in the car on Friday! It feels like we haven’t driven in ages and I just want to keep the train rolling from our great performances at Daytona and Sebring. The resurfaced track at Laguna will be new for most everyone, so it'll be interesting to see who adapts their cars to it the quickest and how that affects the tire degradation in the race, as it is usually quite high here!” said Taylor
An excited Miller said “It’s felt like a while since Sebring so I’m really looking forward to getting into the heart of the season starting at Laguna. Obviously we have had a good start to the championship but we know the competition is going to fight back so we need to stay sharp and continue to execute all the little things that helped us win the first two races. Laguna is a track I love and we’ve had fast cars there in the past but haven’t actually had a ton of success in the races. I’m excited about the package we are bringing this year and think we can help the car be a bit easier on tires and stay up front!”
